as a longtime mac user and built-in tech support for friends/family, one of the first things i look for when someone says their mac is running slow is mackeeper. it’s an inefficient resource hog that causes more problems than it purports to fix (come on; cleaning font caches isn’t really going to keep your mac safe from anything but you knowing how your computer works). anything it does that is genuinely useful is done more efficiently by built-in tools like disk utility or network diagnostics, or real (and free) tools like onyx. i know you have to shill to pay bills, but cult of mac should know better than to promote this known crapware.

I couldn’t agree more. I would even say that your Mac doesn’t need any of those tools. If it runs slow, you probably have a hardware problem.

How much does Mackeeper pay you guys to keep stumping for their useless, ad-spamming, inefficient software? Seeing these “articles” makes me respect this site less and less.

As An Apple Reseller and tech I already fixed a few customers’s Macs that were running slow or gone crazy because of MacKeeper. I do not recommend this utility to my customers. A good alternative when repairing disk permissions is not enough is Cocktail.

Are you seriously trying to sell us MacKeeper? For shame.

Very disappointed to see CoM pushing this junk. I guess money talks.

Or running old ass buggy versions of software, have a near to full startup disk cause you have moved stuff to trash but never empty it etc. lots of things non tech users can do to slow up computers that aren’t hardware
