Facebook just rolled out a big update to its iOS app in the App Store. Most notably, version 5.2 of Facebook’s app brings the long-awaited “Share” button.

Like Twitter’s ability to retweet, Facebook is now letting users quickly share links and posts on their timeline. You’ve been able to do this on the desktop and Facebook’s mobile website, but now the sharing functionality is integrated in the native Facebook iOS experience.

Today’s update brings a number of other additions, including emoticons in messages and the ability to tag your friends in status updates and comments.

Now you can share the best stories from your news feed with just one tap.
• New Share link to re-post stories from your news feed
• Tag your friends in any post, comment or photo
• Smileys, hearts and other emoji in messages
• To sort your feed, tap the button next to News Feed in the left sidebar

The option to “Share” appears next to the Comment and Like buttons below a post, like a link someone shares in your news feed. You can add a short comment before re-sharing.

Another long-awaited feature is friend tagging in posts. The desktop experience has allowed for this by typing the “@” symbol before a friend’s name in a status or comment, and now the same can be done in the Facebook mobile app.

You can now sort between news feeds by “most recent” or “top” stories. Tap the gear icon next to the News Feed menu on the left to toggle the options.

Facebook 5.2 is available now in the App Store.
