Do You Think It’s Best To Wait And Buy The 2nd Gen iPad Mini Instead [Poll]

We just published our review of the iPad mini, and while we think it’s an extraordinary device, it’s not quite as magical without a Retina display. We think you’d be better off waiting till the 2nd generation iPad mini, but maybe we’re wrong. Let us know if you agree by voting in the poll above.

Waiting for the next Apple devices is always dumb, unless you can’t afford it or just plain don’t need one. You can always re-sell, and we can only speculate on what the next generation model will have. Don’t spend your life waiting for the next big thing – get one now, sell it and get the next one if its that much better.

One nice thing is Apple products hold their value well. You may only end up spending $100 for a full years use… or even less.

Do I think it’s a good idea to wait for the second gen? Yes! Do I have enough will power to wait that long? Absolutely not! Still waiting for mine to get delivered though…

Tell that to the people like me that are trying to sell their iPad 3 so they can get the newest iPad. I paid $829.00 for my 64gb 4G LTE and have been trying to sell it on Craigslist for two weeks now. I have it down to $600.00 and people still trying to get me to drop it more. I will be getting the newest iPad regardless, but I will be waiting till next year for the first update on the iPad mini.

I can only assume that the 75% (currently) who voted to wait until version 2 haven’t actually seen or used the mini. I got mine this morning at 9.30am UK and I love it, far better than the iPad, so light, great size, works really well with Smart Cover, ( which I was never keen on on the IPad). All in all 8 out of 10, would be 10 if it had retina.

iPhones hold their resale value REALLY WELL, other Apple products not so much!

    I got $160 for my 2-yr-old 16GB 3GS; $300 for my 1-yr-old 32GB 4S, both from Gazelle.

My iPad 3- 7.5-mo-old (64GB;LTE) is currently only worth $492 on Gazelle. (Paid over $900)

My 2-yr-old 21.5 in.; 1TB iMac (immaculate condition) is only worth $300 on Gazelle! (paid over $1600)

And my friend just got an estimate for his 1-yr-old MacBook Pro- $300! (paid over $1500)

All of my Apple products are in immaculate, out-of-the box condition. I could probably get a little more on eBay or Craig’s List, but these estimates are just benchmarks.

While that has been the case in the past, I don’t see that as being true every time. iPad 3 has dropped like a stone now that the iPad 4 came out so lets see what the iPad 3 is worth in April time frame, not anywhere near what you think it will be.

If the iPad mini had a better processor and display I would strongly consider trading my iPad 3 in for it, but having iPad 2 specs just is not appealing.
