Apple’s iOS lock screen has remained largely unchanged for the last five years. That’s probably because it serves its purpose pretty well, but sometimes it’s nice to try something different. Thanks to Pinch to Unlock, a new tweak for jailbroken iPhones, you can do just that. Rather than sliding to unlock your device, you just pinch.
Once installed, this tweak allows you to unlock your iPhone like you’re zooming out of a page in Safari. Just use your thumb and your forefinger to pinch the display. AppAdvice demonstrates the tweak in action:
It’s nice to have a change, but I think I would prefer this tweak if it also removed the slide to unlock bar across the bottom of the lock screen, providing more room for notifications. After all, once it’s installed, slide to unlock is no longer necessary.
If you’d like to check out Pinch to Unlock, you can find it in the ModMyi repository within Cydia. It’s completely free.
