Dock+ Adds Weight To The iPhone 5 [Kickstarter]

The only person who cares that your old 30-pin dock doesn’t fit your new iPhone 5 is you. Everyone else is ecstatic. Apple gets to cross another SKU off its product list, and third-party makers can sniff the sweet, sweet smell of opportunity in the air. The opportunity to separate you from yet more of your easily-spent dollars.

One such opportunist is David W, the clever chap behind the Dock+, the first Kickstarter dock we’ve seen for the iPhone 5.

The Dock+ follows the fat’n'chunky rule of dock design, all the better to not keep sticking to your iPhone when you just want to lift the thing up and go. And thanks to the new slimline Lightning connector, along with a smart feature which lets that connector hinge in place, both docking and un-docking are smooth and worry-free.

Are you a case-user, or do you prefer to go commando? Either way, the Dock+ has you covered (or not covered, I guess): the unit ships with two rubber pads of different thicknesses, for the naked phone, or thin cases. Got a fat case? Then lose the pads altogether.

The case comes in three flavors: black and white, or raw steel, which shows off the metal construction. This last version is only available to Kickstarter early birds. Currently, the lowest pitch to support the project is $59.
