Classic RPG Game, The Witcher, Gets Lion And Mountain Lion Support In New Update

If you’ve been wanting to play The Witcher, CD Projekt’s well-regarded RPG based on the book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, now might be a great time to do so. The game has just been patched with support for Lion and Mountain Lion, letting more modern Macs join in the fun.

The Witcher, available as an Enhanced Edition: Director’s Cut on Steam for $10, follows the story of Geralt, a “witcher,” who are sort of monster-hunting mercenaries with supernatural powers of their own. It’s set in a medieval-like fantasy world with magic and unnatural monsters roaming the land. The game is one of the first to successfully implement delayed consequences for moral choices in the game, as well as a less binary view of good and evil in its choice mechanics.

The new patch simply brings the game up to date for Apple’s latest two OS X versions, Lion and Mountain Lion.

Patch 1.6.2 for The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for Macs combines the improvements of the patch 1.6.1 with the latest version of the compatibility layer software fully compatible with OS X Lion 10.7.5 and Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

PLEASE NOTE! Patch 1.6.2 can only be used on Macs. Also, don’t use 1.6.2 files downloaded from the website with the Steam version of the game.

FRESH INSTALLATION
If this is a fresh installation of the game, select the correct version of the patch 1.6.0 -> 1.6.2 depending on the region where a given version is distributed. If you want to additionally ascertain which version of the patch you need, open Options and there check which languages are available in Voice-overs.
