Greg Pierce, the genius behind Drafts for the iPhone and iPad, has posted a teaser screenshot for a new feature in an upcoming version of the app. To save you puzzling it out from the picture, it gives you the chance to send pre-defined emails to pre-set addresses, with one click.
Drafts is already just about the most useful app on my iPad and iPod Touch. Open it, type something and then choose where to send it: a note in Evernote or SimpleNote, a reminder in the native reminders app, a Tweet — it’s almost endless what you can do with text. Almost, but not quite.
Which is where this new option comes in. By specifying a predefined subject line, but varying the body text, you can use the amazing internet toolkit If This Then That (IFTTT) to process that e-mail and send its payload in any direction your choose. Google Drive? Hootsuite? App.net? It’s all there, letting Drafts support services without having to overload its peferences.
I can’t wait.
