Well that didn’t take long. It’s only been three days since Rovio teased us with the possibility of an Angry Birds Star Wars game, and today, it’s official. Rovio has announced that they will be launching Angry Birds Star Wars worldwide on Novemeber 8th and a barrage of merchandise starting October 28th (in time to get your kids into Angry Birds Star Wars costumes).
Toys ‘R’ Us received first dibs on the merchandise and those lucky enough to have ventured into the Times Square store earlier today already got a sneak peek at what’s to come. If you’re anxious to get your hands on some of the new Angry Birds Star Wars merchandise, you can visit toysrus.com and pre-order select items starting today.
The mobile game looks to combine the hit Star Wars franchise with the gameplay from Angry Birds Space. For those who haven’t grown tired of the franchise, this should undoubtedly be one of the coolest and geekiest iteration yet.
“This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away,” said Peter Vesterbacka, the Mighty Eagle and CMO of Rovio. “As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one.”
The game will launch simultaneously for iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8.
