Video Shocker: Apple’s New Get-A-Mac Ads Are Actually Pretty Funny

Wow, the launch of Windows 7 on Thursday has prompted Apple to trot out three new ads making fun of Microsoft’s new system.

The big shocker is that they are actually pretty funny. I LOLed at the last line in the “PC Wars” ad above; a line delivered by Justin Long. Yeah Justin Long.

The “Broken Promises” is also pretty good. Watch it – and the third ad, “Teeter Tottering” — after the jump.

    Why do Apple have to poke fun at other companies so people buy their stuff? The “I’m A PC” Ads dont make fun of Mac and are, in my opinion, really good.
    There smugness has turned pathetic now, it was funny for like the first few ads they did years ago but old now.

    They should do Ads about what there OS has, not say what others haven’t got.

    The iPhone and iPod sells like hotcakes and there Ads don’t poke fun at Zune, so it’s clear mocking is not needed.

    Apple seem to be the only company that makes advertisements talking about other competitors’ products rather than their own.

    I can picture the marketing meetings.

    Team leader: “ALRIGHT TEAM, HOW CAN WE PROMOTE OUR OS EVEN FURTHER?”

    Marketing monkey #1: “How about we make a fun ad about our latest OS release? We could take users through the benefits of what we have to offer, as well as the stability of our platform and customer satisfaction?”

    *room bursts into laughter*

    Marketing monkey #2: “We could just bash Windows for 30 seconds like we always do?”

    Team leader: “FUCKING BRILLIANT, GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE”.

    Fuck fanboys — Both the Microsoft and Apple variety, fuck this stupid OS war, and fuck these ads.

    Yes, Microsoft would never say anything untoward about Apple/Mac.

    When you’re the market share underdog, you HAVE to do this. Otherwise, you’re pissing away valuable opportunities.

    Why would Apple make a commercial aimed at the 5 Zune owners out there? It’s not cost effective.

    I really love the ‘Im a Mac’, ‘Im a PC’ adverts.

    Apple are genius at making their products sound so cool, and in these ads, they do it very well, while at the same time making them quite funny.

    Well done Apple!! Up your’s ‘Im a PC’.

    I guess you missed the part where the buyer talk about getting a Mac? Y’know, the computer that’s #1 in customer satisfaction. But I guess if you’re not a fanboy it was too subtle a reference.

    actually George, Microsoft isn’t so innocent. they used the same tactic several times during their Laptop Ads. Attempting to bash Mac as snobby, overpriced, lacking in the coolest features (look Mom, it has blu-ray) etc.

    if there is any negative to the Apple Ads it is that they played the no virus card too many times. hopefully with this customer satisfaction card they are done with that old schtick.

    The only problem is that switching from a PC to a Mac will most likely end up costing you a bit over $1000. That’s a lot of money…

    Would you pay $1000 to switch to Windows?

    Gee…usually these make me laugh, but maybe it’s just starting to get a little old on me. I actually don’t think the broken promises one is a good idea, if Win7 keeps getting good reviews maybe some will see the Microsoft has finally kept a promise? I like the concept of making the big move might as well be a moved to Mac though. I just wish there one a new cheaper Mac option to offer the XP upgraders.
