Facebook hit 1 billion users earlier today, and Mark Zuckerberg has been making the rounds with the press to celebrate the milestone. While speaking with NBC’s Matt Lauer, Zuckerberg talked briefly about Steve Jobs and Apple’s influence on Facebook as a company.
When asked about Steve Jobs, Zuckerberg mentioned how his company and Apple share a respect for user experience. “He [Steve Jobs] was just so focused,” said Zuckerberg. “For him, the user experience was the only thing that mattered.”
Lauer then asked Zuckerberg about the iPhone 5, and the Facebook CEO revealed that Tim Cook personally sent him one when the device was announced. Apple executives have been known to gift new products to high-ranking individuals, such as when President Obama received an iPad from Steve Jobs. Zuckerberg cleverly dodged a question about which phone he uses as his main device, saying that “iPhone is a great platform,” but then noting that “there are more people who use Facebook on Android.”
