iHook Promises To Mount Your iPod Nano To Everything, Or At Least Open A Beer For You

I love my iPod Nano so much, it’s almost irrational. I know it doesn’t have bluetooth or wifi, or any other wireless connectivity, but the form factor is so perfect! I even have a Hex leather watchband for it, wearing it when I’m out on the town.

But it’s tiny. I lose it often. I’m actually on my second Nano due to accidental loss. The clip on the back sucks for anything but casual clipping on clothes when I’m working out, or attaching to my Hex watchband.

The iHook, then, aims to fix these problems, with a funky little bent metal mounting bracket that the manufacturer promises will change your Nano’s life. And yours, by association.

First of all, you need to see the video. It’s a little amateur, but it’s so earnest! They really want you to like them and their product. Secondly, you need to check out the iHook – this looks seriously useful. I’ve already decided I want one for my car, for my bike, and for my computer screen at work. It can be mounted permanently with screws or semi-permanently with zip ties, or used as a universal mounting system. Just think of that little bugger with velcro on it! It will come in seven colors to match the iPod Nano.

This is the first project from iAmHooked, a company started by the two nice gentlemen in the video. They originally conceived the iHook as a solution for using an iPod Nano in a car, but decided that this would be a great idea in a ton of other places.

To make iHook as simple as possible we used the built-in iPod Nano clip as a base for our design. The compact size of our unit matches the Nano perfectly. The design makes it possible to mount an iPod Nano on any available surface. An iHook will give you easy and convenient access to your Nano in an automobile or on a bicycle, motorcycle, airplane, furniture, wrist band and even clothing. While the dashboard of a car is the obvious choice for the Nano placement, the sun visor, center console or windshield may also be used to mount the iHook.

My favorite bit in the video has to be when they use the iHook to open a beer. Yeah, that could work! Even if that’s not your bag, you can see how useful this would be for using the iPod Nano in a ton of places and on a bunch of objects around the house, car, office, and the gym, right?

Give the iHook a look at Kickstarter, and if you dig it, toss a little money in the hat. I’m sure they’ll appreciate it, and you’ll get–at the low donation level of $18–three iHooks in the color of your choice.
