Behold Samsung’s Ridiculous New Anti-iPhone 5 Ad [Image]

Look at that. Just look at it. That’s Samsung’s latest anti-iPhone 5 advert. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Not only is it one of the most slanted product comparisons I’ve ever seen, but it’s got a pitiful message: “Our phone is better because our contrived spec list is longer!”

And not only that, but the bottom half of the Galaxy S III’s specs on this ad are meaningless anyways. They don’t inform you about why the Galaxy S III is actually a better phone. Who cares if you can “shake to update” your phone, Samsung? You wasted space by saying that your phone can make a “Direct Call” while the iPhone 5 can’t? Most people have no clue what “S-Beam,” “Smart Say,” “Picture In Picture” (was that feature named by a kindergardener?), or “Palm Touch Mute Pause” means. But hey, they’re features the iPhone 5 doesn’t have, so why not?

And I thought Samsung’s Twitter account was sad this past week. This is truly pathetic.

You’re right Samsung, it “doesn’t take a genius” to see that you have no clue how to market a smartphone.

Some of the stats at the top strike me as false also. It claims to have longer talk time and longer standby time, but the processor in the Samsung is far more power hungry than the A6 and the battery is almost identical in size. I don’t see how it can have triple the standby time. Seems very unlikely to me.

  • KurtALEXis

    pathetic

  • Matthew Gonzales Landry

Samsung’s own website: Talk time is up-to 8 hours.

  • Daniel09DD

1 example that fits the whole ad:

Galaxy SIII has better resolution, but if you do the math and compare the 4.8 inch screen (which is too big) to the 4 inch iPhone screen, you will learn that iPhone 5 (and even the two previous versions) has more px per inch meaning a better display.

Sometimes “just make it bigger” is not the best decision. It’s all about user experience.

  • Matthew Gonzales Landry

The latter half of Samsung’s spec list are all failed innovations. There are so many “things” to do that nobody even bothers to learn them all. Who the hell falls asleep looking directly at their phone? Who wants to hold their hand in front of their phones display because they don’t want to touch the screen? Who wants a 1080p video to block up their screen for whatever its doing? Theses are all sh*tty ideas that should have been aborted. AMazing that Google has the best Samsung phone.

Samsung has merely pointed out that their phone is better when you compare specs and features, things that are actually measurable against a standard.

This is why car adds don’t use things like “handles better” or “feels smoother”, at least not exclusively. MPG is something I can understand without using it. 0 to 60 in X seconds is something I don’t have to see to understand that it’s faster than 0-60 in something less than X seconds.

Sure, a few of those features listed toward the bottom are things I don’t understand because I need them explained, but once they are explained, I can understand them and understand that the iPhone does not do those things.

Interestingly, Tim Cook understand this, as this years keynote speech shied away from Steve Job’s talk of magic, something that literally means nothing, and focused on specs, things that normal everyday people understand.

Samsung knows exactly how to market to people. It’s why they are the number one manufacturer of smartphones in the US and the world. What Cult of Mac calls meaningless is only meaningless to someone who already likes Apple. To the rest of the world where the word “magic” is something I saw on Harry Potter and isn’t real or measurable, those specs mean I can use the Galaxy S3 longer than the iPhone 5, has a bigger screen than the iPhone 5, uses a charging cable I probably already own, can be silenced without having to wake up the phone and dig through settings, and can have the the battery replaced easily if I find myself in need of such a thing.

Do any of the claims automatically equal a better user experience? Of course not. But experience is subjective to each person. Hardware specs are hardware specs. There is no other way to view them. Hardware specs are marketable and tangible. Magic is not and can’t be communicated on paper.

The real question here must be: Why does Samsung feel the need to make a campaign against the iPhone 5 if the superiority of their own Galaxy phone is as obvious as they claim?

It doesn’t take a genius … to see that Samsung is feeling the heat.

Half of the “features” on samsung’s list don’t even work. They included programs from there OS and put them on the list. but didn’t do that for Apple! What about free turn by turn, free 3D maps, a place to digitally keep all your coupons, gift cards, boarding passes etc., iCloud, free video calls over 4G, the most advanced mobile web browser, twitter and facebook integration, a place to keep all your digital photos stored for free, a kick ass camera app, a free service to help you find your lost phone, a retina display… do i need to go on? Not to mention that the screen on the SIII is way to big, and apple actually designed, and engineered its own processors, displays, camera, and the fact it actually wrote its on OS. The app store has 700,000 apps designed specifically for the iPhone that takes advantage of the hardware built into the phone. So yes, if you think about it, this ad does show you the superior phone.

Hahaha. They are so pathetic, and I’m not just saying that to defend apple. When you break it down logically they are embarrassing them selves. Something has made them think they have a loyal fan base. Something has made them think they are actually innovating when they are making the cheapest and worst phones on the market. I mean they make pure junk. They lost in court, they copied apple at first. I mean this company is shameless. They wish they were apple so badly but they don’t understand that they never will be. There will never be a line for a Samsung phone, no one knows their CEO, I mean they are a joke. Their list of features are so hilarious. I love competition and I love when other companies make great devices. Sa,sung just isn’t one of them. They dont get it. They make toys. They don’t understand design. They lie so badly to their customers. Samsung is like the worst of the worst. I’ve used all their products. Their tablets are so bad. Their phones are just as bad. They are so slow and sluggish, apps don’t work o. Them, and the hardware is so cheap it feels like the phone was bought at toys r us.

  • Overthe Wires

The sad thing is there are people out there who hate apple for no reason at all. They are just those hater types who hate that it’s apple who makes all the good stuff and gets it right, they actually like to move backwards. What I’ve found is that the android user base at least the ones I’ve met in person or have talked to online are really uneducated and know nothing about technology. I see a lot of thug wigged kids with them and just not smart people. They assume this and that about apple yet know nothing about it. Having been an android user I just don’t get how anyone with a brain could use the device next to an. iPhone and say its better. I’ve done the test. Even the iPhone 4 beats the newest android phone in speed, in ease of use, in camera, in audio quality, in apps. Like you literally can’t do anything with android phones.

  • nthnm

While this ad may make many people think the Samsung phone offers so much more, if many were to actually read each of these specs, they’d have no clue what many were. Smart Stay, S Beam, Share Shot…what are these? And what exactly is Direct Call? Pretty sure my iPhone can make a direct call – Phone -> Keypad -> Dial Number. If this isn’t what this “feature” is, it’s what the majority of people are going to think who are making their purchase decisions based on ads.

What was the first comment during the iPhone 4S announcement? : Siri campaigning against Samsung, which at that time was not only ahead of the 4S but probably the iPhone 5 as well (galaxy s3). Don’t get me wrong, I’m an Apple fan, recently shifted everything to Apple (iMac, mbp, iPad, iPhone), in fact never owned an android device. Welcome to marketing.

Wow! Samsung is really on the ball. Unfortunately for them, the iPhone 5 will outsell the S III by about 5 to 1 and Apple is going to clean up on the Benjamins. There’s no doubt that the S III is a fine smartphone, but it runs Android and it has lots of Android competitors with nearly the same specs. However, if you want to run iOS, then the iPhone is the only game in town.

I’d really be surprised if the S III can get 11 hours talk time from a battery charge, but if it can then Samsung pulled off a pretty amazing feat. I’m sure that quad-core is very efficient if it can shut down cores depending on power needed. If that’s the case, then Apple needs to do a little catch-up work with their processors. It’s understandable that the S III can house a larger battery since the phone is physically larger, but three hours more juice is terrific for users. Standby time is also amazing. Maybe they’re using some special type of battery technology that Apple hasn’t quite matched.

  • puffinpunch

I wouldn’t say that the ad was ridiculous, but from an advertising standpoint, they made some really poor decisions in executing it.

Their target market for this specific piece is people who are trying to figure out which high end phone they want to buy. A layman is just going to be confused by the ad. A geek already knows about all these things and chooses their phone based on whether Android or iOS better suits their daily needs (not whether they get to use “S Beam” or if Siri does a better job than S Voice).
All they’re doing is pointing out that despite so many similarities (which seems an ironic thing to be pointing out), there’s still something that makes the iPhone preferable to more people than their phone.

  • Bob Smogango

The reason why they are doing this is that the real advantages of the product is by actually USING IT. Once you find out what the iPhone 5 brings to the table vs the S III, then one realizes that with all of the silly S III eye candy comes low battery life.

This also reminds of those stereo receivers with TONS of buttons and knobs vs the high end audiophile equipment that only had a volume, bass, treble and that’s it. Well, with all of those features, what happens is that they don’t sound very good, they aren’t reliable and they are actually too confusing for the average person to operate and they are quickly obsolete by the next model that has more buttons, more knobs and more features.

  • Kevin Hancox

I love there S-Beam, it looks so cool… So cool in fact that it doesn’t even work with other phones with S-Beam…!!! On top of that, if you can get it to work, it only works with other SIII’s and no other android… That impresses me so much… Samsung should take up comedy, they would be the best comedians in the world…

I would also note that going through all those settings is crazy, i can open a photo and click share and share by many many different solutions to ANY phone or ANY computer in less time with more ease… ;)

Samsung is an unscrupulous thief and a lier. Remember it recently was forced to admit it only shipped 10% of the number of tablets it previously claimed to have shipped. 10% !!.

And ask the bloggers about the immoral ways this cowboy outfit works. The ones it flew from India to a tradeshow in Berlin. Despite assurances there were no strings attached, on arrival these saps were handed Samsung uniforms, told to work the booth and say nice things or their hotels and flights home were cancelled, leaving them stranded. Nice company!

I’ll never buy a Samsung branded product again. So far they’ve lost out on a large fridge/freezer, HD TV, Blue-ray player and 3 big hard disks. It all adds up.. this company does not deserve my business.

    1. You are wrong on the iPhone 5 being “really not much more of a phone than the 4S.” Don’t be fooled by the similar shape. It’s camera is much better than before, the A6 is a FAR better processor than what’s out there, better microphone system, one chip vs two chip for voice/data which should be far less battery drain when making 4G/LTE calls, as well as the antenna system might be much better than Samsung’s. Even the older 4S camera had better pictures and the iPhone 5 is much better than the 4S for pictures/video. Rumor is that they got the licensing from Philips to use their patented flash to get better low level picture taking.
My suggestion is wait until people get it in their hands and use it and compare it to the S III. In addition, Samsung ships two different processors depending on the market, so they can’t even be consistent with what processor they are using.
    2. You are easily fooled by Samsung, I have a friend that used to have an iPhone 4S, she had it stolen, bought a S III a couple of months ago. Her ACTUAL talk time is much less, as she has to recharge the battery twice as often as her older iPhone 4S. She has LOTs of cell reception problems. Her boyfriend’s iPhone 4S can make calls in places her S III can’t. It also heats up faster and she said it is much harder to use due to the width of the screen and how the OS works. She already wants to dump it and get an iPhone. Buying the S III was a BIG mistake for my friend and she’s NOT the only one.

I know you got upset at FCP X. They did address the things left out from the original release. I saw a Video editing Instructor at one of the top colleges do a lengthy unbiased comparison between FCP X, Premier, and Avid, and he rated the pluses and minuses of each aspect of these editors and FCP X came out ahead of Premier. In the review, which was probably the most detailed review I’ve ever seen. I think the entire video was well over an hour discussing each major aspect of workflow feature. He boiled it down to the old video editors will either eventually love FCP X and adopt it as Apple only has a few areas to address to make it 100% better than Premier or they’ll just hobble along with working the same way they always do. Yeah, it’s hard to switch your workflow once you get used to one way of doing things. Either way, he mentioned that the people going to college seem to like the FCP X interface better and like working with it vs. Premier as they are more eager to learn new things whereas the older production people get used to one thing and they are less likely going to change their workflow.

Yeah, we all know the MacPro needs a refresh. Sorry about that, but in order to make a significant refresh, they have to get all of the various components and design to get it to a level where it is a BIG refresh. Maybe it will be, as Tim Cook said, WORTH THE WAIT.

This is amazing! Take a look guys!

    A6, quad core?

They still don’t know. Based on what I’ve read it is a custom Dual Core that might use the same instruction set as the Cortex A15, instead of the older Cortex A9. The other aspect is that the GPU might be quad core and a COMPLETELY better GPU, which is what is typically being used the most. THe other thing is iOS is much more efficient than Android since widgets, animated background, Flash, etc. are resource hogs (memory, CPU/GPU, battery), in addition Apple has the Anobit SSD controller and I think the competition might be in deep do do since they might have to use a lower grade SSD controller. The A6 is supposed to rival game controller chips. I’ve heard conflicting info on the S4 that’s being used in the competitions smartphones as the actual S4 they are using might not have the better GPU than the S4 going into tablets. Apparently, Qualcomm has different variations of the S4 chip. Still, not enough information since a lot of the information is being kept a secret, but this is what i’ve read in articles written by the guys that review processor technology on an in depth level.

Either way, the bottom line is how the device performs in terms of battery life, QOS, quality of reception, picture/video taking, etc., etc. I’m sure people will be happy. I just think some people are brainwashed by the larger screen on the Samsung, which some people love at first but tend to hate it because it isn’t as ergonomic to use with one hand. Sometimes that little thing is actually a big deal for people that are used to a phone one can use with one hand.

  • Bob Smogango

I was looking at TVs a few months ago and the Best Buy rep IMMEDIATELY showed me the Samsung. I did a little checking and found out that the power supplies on their “Flagship” model have problems with blown capacitors. Since i have a background in electronics, components, etc. I saw a tear down video of the TV and it was a typical cheap power supply. If you look at the power supply on a higher grade TV, they will use better grade EVERYTHING. The power supply on the Thunderbolt Monitor is first rate. Excellent design and quality of components. The average consumer doesn’t quite get the difference between consumer grade and commercial grade. Apple actually deploys more commercial grade components, Printed circuit boards than the typical Samsung product. in the area of components, commercial grade is better tested, etc., and it does typically last longer, but is a little more expensive. To me, I’d rather pay for commercial grade products than consumer grade any day of the week.

One of the most misleading aspect of the S III is upgradeability. They kind of people think that Micro SD is the same as SSD memory. SInce the storage inside is SSD, but “upgrading” using Micro SD? That’s not a REAL upgrade in storage. Also, it takes a LONG time for Samsung to get Google’s update to the OS out. Google released Jelly Bean a while back and people have to wait another 2-3 months for Samsung to release Jelly Bean. Plus, if’/when Android 5 comes out, these Android phone/tablet makers don’t typically allow for full version upgrades on their devices, so there’s a strong likeliness that when Android 5 comes out, you’ll be forced to buy a new phone. Even 3GS users will at least get an iOS 6 upgrade despite the older electronics.

Contrived spec list? Being able to remove the battery is contrived?

Also, I’m more amused by the fact that the new iPhone with an entire new number in the series should have basically been the iPhone 4S II, not the 5.

Maybe Samsung’s list of features isn’t longer because they “contrived” it, maybe it’s because the iPhone didn’t have enough features worth mentioning in a longer list.

  • Ronald Stepp

1 example that fits the whole ad:

Galaxy SIII has better resolution, but if you do the math and compare the 4.8 inch screen (which is too big) to the 4 inch iPhone screen, you will learn that iPhone 5 (and even the two previous versions) has more px per inch meaning a better display.

Sometimes “just make it bigger” is not the best decision. It’s all about user experience.

So the iphone has more pixels per inch, wow, so all those extra pixels you can’t resolve with the eye aren’t really needed because the Samsungs larger screen looks just fine with the pixels it does have.

  • Ronald Stepp

Just proves that samsung feels the need to attach itself to the iphone to be able to get noticed.

Um, who exactly do you think Samsung is “COMPETING” with?

  • Ronald Stepp

Just proves that samsung feels the need to attach itself to the iphone to be able to get noticed.

You’re not even going to point out that for some strange reason the iPhone screen got bigger, in order to attach themselves to the market that has all those other phones with big screens.

If apple didn’t really think they needed to compete with other phones they would never have gone to a larger screen, funny how that works. Even apple tries to do some of the things other phones like Samsung does to get current.

  • Ronald Stepp

Hey Samsung, let you come n S M D ….. I was tempted with this stupid S3 phone so thought I should give it a try and bought one at best buy, to replace my ugly iPhone 4s ….lol

Trust me!!! My life was a mess…. And his phone sucks…. It was a 3 days nightmare in my life and 4th day I got my life back by holding my beloved iPhone 4s.

In short having a big size phone was not practical at all and how well phill Schiller told me on key note.

If your one hand n thumb can’t operate a phone..,.. It’s not phone for you.

See how easily we operate iPhone with me hand, we actually don’t need a second hand at ALL.
Is this a small thing ? NO . I am so thank full to make a taller but not wider iPhone 5 s Samsung F OFF…….

And yet you didn’t get a phone with a real keyboard? Strange since that seems to be your major concern, typing on the phone. I did get a S3 and after seeing the big apple “reveal” wasn’t sorry I did.

  • Ronald Stepp

Some of the stats at the top strike me as false also. It claims to have longer talk time and longer standby time, but the processor in the Samsung is far more power hungry than the A6 and the battery is almost identical in size. I don’t see how it can have triple the standby time. Seems very unlikely to me.

You know those processors don’t always run full bore. Neat technology they have in computer processors these days, they can step down their power use when it needs to.

  • hspito

It doesn’t take a genius to see that the Galaxy S III is full of bloatware. Now if it was a phone features comparison then there is a lot of iPhones features that are not listed. i.e. iCloud, App store (more than 700k apps), double tap for multitask, rise to speak for Siri, iTunes Match, Photo Stream, Air Play, iMessage, panoramic Pictures, face detection, Video stabilization, etc, I can be here for hours naming features, oh and the best it fits in your pocket and there is no need to carry your wall charger or an additional battery.

It doesnt take a genius right? How come apple have quad core cpu when its not! Apple doesnt want to compare specs wise as it know lost already. Do u think s3 doesnt have 720p front camera video and panorama mode? It got panorama from s2 itself! u re like a teen high on his own fizzy pop, u re living in ur own illusional world. Face the truth. Seriously facetime? Come on, can u video chat with other phone? Why the hell it doest introduced video calling over 3g for 5 years? Look, free os updates annually? Dont even have anything other than this? Its like others charge for update and apple is doing it free? Updated maps? Ha ha ha, its the biggest joke, dont even have turn by turn nav, street view why go inferior? Lets face the facts, apple introduced catch up product and u people are like, brainless!!! None of the features are new or introduced by apple, can u name one? U apple fan boys can settle for second best or just plainly follow apple for whatever it gives, but its not sensible. Iphone5 may sell in millions, but its not for sensible people. It shows ceasarcheaper… Apple faired worst on drop test than any other phones. Also apple charge a hand or leg to change it as opening device urself will void the warranty. About battery life, how come it could do same 8hrs tt, it got lte, bigger screen? all they can do is just name the camera too, isight? Whats new in the kitty? Nfc, bah? May be it will catch up after two more years. Imessage? Ha ha ha, u guys even waited two whole years to get messaging on phone,.. U can delete many features and rebrand it with a name and tell its ur innovation. After all apple and its fan boys can just do that only. Get a life, go and do ur home work.

Are u blind? U can brand it as retina or whatever, human eyes cant see variations beyond 300ppi. S3 got 306ppi, also hd standard resolution, nit and made up resolution for the sake fo extending the phone to 4″. Cant u see the features it got? Can u name a new thing on apple? Be fair, author can say ridiculous ad, yes its on apples part. Even samsung left out may features.

What u re, kinder gartener? U should own only toy phones, from chicco or someone. Dont go for multimedia phones. If u need one, nokia 3310 is suffice for u. U shouod have used ur friends s3 and got jealous of it, so is the comments.

Samsung is acting very immature! It’s almost like Samsung has a insecurity issue and they feel the need to have to prove it to everybody else. There will be Samsung users and iPhone users let’s just leave it at that! Does Samsung really feel like he needs to compare to the iPhone 5. Give me a break Samsung :(
iPhone 5 looks better than the galaxy phone

Sounds like the iCommunity is butt hurt. Severely butt hurt

Gauging by all the troll posts you’ve clocked up, the only one severely butt hurt is you, and samsuck. Only a weak, insecure, fandroid sheep comes to an opponents blog to troll.

It obvious by this pathetic stunt, that samsuck hasn’t taken the billion dollar law suit very well at all. You and they, need to grow the fuck up, or grow a brain. I won’t be holding my breath on either. Enjoy your POS, while the rest of us are happy with products of true quality.

Now toddle off and flash your RAM, or whatever it is you need to do to run that samsuck crap of yours.

    Toodle loo, motherfuckerrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hats off Kr00! and well said to this Frandroid geek.

Glory to Apple, Steve and all Apple fanboys….

Samsung Galaxy S lll ( Lumia 920, too) is way better and more innovative than iPhone 5. Apple keep playing catch up. hahaha

Samsung is a company bereft of morals. it says and does anything that it thinks will maximise its profit.

It’s a proven thief and a lier. Stealing Apple’s iPhone and iPad designs, and lying about the real numbers it shipped (remember it was recently forced to reveal its tablet shipments had been exaggerated and it only shipped 10% of what it previously claimed! 10% !!)

And ask the bloggers out this cowboy outfit. The ones it flew from India to a tradeshow in Berlin. Despite assurances there were no strings attached (many bloggers don’t want to be beholden to a particular company), when the saps arrived they were told to get into Samsung uniforms, work the booth and say nice things, or their hotels and flights home were cancelled. Nice company.

I will never buy a Samsung labelled product. So far they’ve lost out on my replacement fridge/freezer, HD TV, BlueRay player and several hard disks.

People are saying apple won in court and that Samsung copied them. Why did the same court case get thrown out in the UK and China? Apple even had to apologize to apple in the UK. If you do a quick Google search you will see apple have done similar things. Most of you are calling the S3 a bad phone and of poor build quality. Just because apple uses a metal frame it does not mean it is better. Most phones to date are made of plastic. The design is down to personal choice. I find it funny that a lot of you are getting really defensive and saying Samsung must be getting really worried. With the variety of products Samsung make from low end to high end and ranging price categories they will have something to suit everyone and if you look at their market share I don’t think they will be too worried either. With the OS some people like iOS some people don’t, again it is down to personal choice but it was announced last week that 500 million android phones have been activated which is a huge part of the market. The S3 is a fantastic phone there is no doubting that. It has fantastic specs. I would say to look at the quality of the screens even if the Iphone has higher pixel density it would be hard to tell the difference but it seems to be a big part of apple fans arguments. Cameras are the same and the processor might be a bit faster in the S3. And all you you are criticizing Samsung’s most recent advertisement. Nothing they said was untrue. Its advertising of course they are going to make their product sound better. At the end of the day both phones are fantastic and on a par with each other. Both better in different departments. It amazes me how apple fans and android fans can be so one minded. Different strokes for different folks!!!!!!

  • Skywaytraffic

To be fair though, from a marketing standpoint, this is a great ad.

  • Emerald_212

Anyone recall those wonderful “WiFi” BluRay players which required a ‘wireless adapter’ – which was DOUBLE the price of the player itself? LOLz

I too refuse to buy another SameSung product, period.

IMHO, I haven’t met anyone who gives a *turd* that I have an iPhone vs. any other brand, as for social status. I’m around bikers, musicians, & execs at work who have $100K+ Mercedes … None care what phone I’m using. I sure don’t care about a phone as an indicator of social status.
    _____________

The latter half of Samsung’s spec list are all failed innovations. There are so many “things” to do that nobody even bothers to learn them all. Who the hell falls asleep looking directly at their phone? Who wants to hold their hand in front of their phones display because they don’t want to touch the screen? Who wants a 1080p video to block up their screen for whatever its doing? Theses are all sh*tty ideas that should have been aborted. AMazing that Google has the best Samsung phone.

Wrong again. 1080p was standard in all devices not just smartphones, and Apple fans were begging for it in forums and everywhere until Apple finally brought it to iPhone. In fact everything was brought to iPhone too late I.e.: camera, then pathetic camera with no video, then even more pathetic camera with lousy video, lousy initial phone and text capabilities, … Remember your history!

This Pacco character is a fandroid assclown. If you don’t think that every iPhone that has come out has not been better than its android competition at the time you’re either completely stupid or lying to yourself.

Better based on what? Surely you can’t be talking about specs, can you? In that case your an iSheep fanboy wannabe who owns an iPhone for social status.

  • Bruce Schrock

hey its advertising for ya, but speaking of the S-beam… my friends both have an S3 and they’ve tried repeatedly to make it work and failed…. LOL

Pure sheep on this thread. No point trying to talk sense into most of these guys steel-reinforced heads, as I’m probably gonna get generic responses like “Samsung sucks” without any valid reasoning behind it.

Oh, wait… Cult of Mac… Figures.

Yeah, it figures there would be Apple fans on an Apple website.

You, on the other hand, seem to be too brain-damaged to figure this out and have come here to whine like an infant anyway. Funny. Seems a great number of anti-Apple folk are too brain-damaged to figure out they don’t have any right to be here.

  • Bob Reed

All cell phone makers promote their products by contrasting them against competitors’ offerings. This is no exception. If technical superiority was the only issue there would be no ads at all, just spec sheets. Let’s face it – technically, the S3 beats the iPhone 5 pretty handily. But then there is the issue of the operating systems – which is easier for the user to master, which is most compatible with the computers you use. Stop whining and choose your tool.

  • Len Williams

Any company that is marketing a “me too” product like the Samsung phone that is going up against a more popular and more well known rival (the iPhone) will seek to bring down the rival by comparisons of “how much better our product is.” Apple concentrates on its products’ abilities to improve our lives. Samsung’s marketing and commercials are incredibly insulting to current iPhone users, making them out to be clueless trendies without a brain in their heads. This is never a smart move if you want to woo someone over to your “better” product. It’s kind of like saying to a girl you like, “Hey Judy, you’re a lame-brained idiot to date Billy. You should be going out with me instead.”
