Award-Winning RPG Bastion Arrives On iPad For Ten Bucks Less Than Console, Mac Version

Bastion

If you haven’t had the chance to play Basion on the Xbox or your Mac, yet – heck, even if you have – you owe it to yourself to pick this game up for your iPad.

Bastion is available on Mac or the Xbox gaming console for around $15. The iPad version was released today at a fantastic $4.99, making this the best gaming deal you can get for a brand new out-of-the-gate game.

Bastion has sold over 500,000 copies and received over one hundred awards, according to developer Supergiant Games. Bastion is my favorite game of the last year; it never overstays its welcome, giving just the right amount of atmosphere, story, and graphic and musical brilliance – the soundtrack alone is worth $5, in my opinion.

The iPad version is the same full game as the one on Mac or Xbox. You play as The Kid, moving through a world past its prime, a Firefly-esque soundtrack at your every move. An old man narrates, including the action on screen in his tale. Pick up a giant hammer, the narrator will say so, weaving it into his gravelly patter. Fall off the road, he’ll tell you the same. It’s a fantastic way to immerse the player into the game, with the story seeming to unfold around you. As The Kid, you’ll battle demons and monsters to gather power crystals to charge up the central hub, or Bastion.

Bastion for iPad features all the highly acclaimed artwork, music, and narration that Bastion is known for, along with intuitive touch controls. Explore more than 40 lush hand-painted environments as you discover the secrets of the Calamity, a surreal catastrophe that shattered the world to pieces. Wield a huge arsenal of upgradeable weapons and battle savage beasts adapted to their new habitat. Finish the main story to unlock New Game Plus mode and continue your journey!

Seriously, if you spend any money on the App Store this week, make sure you pick up Bastion. You can thank me later.
