Steve Jobs’s Widow Is The 49th Most Powerful Woman In The World

Steve Jobs’s widow, Laurene Powell, has been named as the 49th most powerful womanShe features alongside billionaires, CEOs, entertainers, and heads of state in a list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women composed by Forbes.

Powell is one of 16 “new faces” in the list, and she is recognized by Forbes as the founder of the Emerson Collective, a nonprofit organization that aims to help underprivileged students in public schools.

Others in the list include German Chancellor Angela Merkel in first place, Hillary Clinton in second, Melinda Gates in fourth, Michelle Obama in 7th, Oprah Winfrey in 11th, HP CEO Meg Whitman in 18th, and Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer in 21st. Queen Elizabeth II is ranked 26th.

Back in July, Forbes names Laurene Powell the richest woman in Silicon Valley, with a net worth around $9 billion.
