Skype For Windows 8 Is Way Ahead Of iPad Version Design-Wise

Look! Skype managed to make a non-hideous version of its app.

Say what you like about Windows 8, but Microsoft seems to have knocked developers into line when it comes to interface design. Exhibit a: Skype for Not-Metro, which not only matches the minimal tile design of the OS, but manages to make the iOS version look positively baroque.

In the leaked picture posted to Twitter by IT developer AdamUCF the app looks great, and – visually at least – it puts the iPad version to shame. Not that we should be surprised: Mac versions of Skype have always lagged behind the PC versions, and lately it seems as if the Skype team (now part of Microsoft) is somehow infusing its Mac and iOS apps with a special hatred meant just for us Apple users.

Then again, Apple does make iTunes for Windows, which really is an exquisite kind of torture. Maybe it’s just payback?
