As we edge closer towards the unveiling of Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone next month, component leaks have hit their peak. Last week we showed you images of some of the handset’s internals — including a number of flex cables and a display shield — and today we get our first glimpse at what appears to be the iPhone 5’s logic board.
The image comes via French site NowhereElse, which first publish pictures of the new iPhone’s nano-SIM tray, its dock connector, and its front assembly. The board is noticeably different to previous iPhone logic boards, and although it appears to be just a prototype part without any labeling, its screw holes line up perfectly with the purported iPhone 5 casings we’ve already seen — as you can see from the image below.
Unfortunately, the images do not show the new iPhone’s processor.
According to MacRumors, this image comes from the same person who leaked the iPhone 4S logic board prior to its release last year, which adds even more credence to the image.
It’s usually difficult to determine whether leaked parts are indeed genuine. But the fact that this one fits the leaked casing we’ve already seen, that it comes from a previously accurate source, and that it has surfaced weeks before the new iPhone’s unveiling — when production will have ramped up — means it’s more than likely a genuine part.
We’ll know for sure on September 12.
