If you’re like me, you like to watch a lot of movies and trailers. As a bit of a self-proclaimed movie buff, I’m always doing my best to stay on top of the latest developments in Hollywood, and I like to follow favorite directors and actors as they move from project to project. I’ll often see a trailer for an upcoming film and think, “Oh, I’ve got to see that when it comes out!” More often than not, the movie will come and go in theaters and I’ll forget to see it. Very rarely will I then stumble across it in Netflix later, and that’s mainly because there are a ton of movies I want to watch that aren’t available for instant streaming.
When I stumbled across Taphive’s TodoMovies app, I anticipated finally being able to keep track of the movies I wanted to watch on my iPhone. With a beautiful and simple interface, the app did not disappoint.
TodoMovies is made up of a simple watch list where you add and manage movies you want to see either when they hit theaters or just on your own time. The interface is dead simple to navigate, and there’s support for push notifications for new releases. When you add a movie that hasn’t hit theaters yet, you’ll be asked if you want to receive a notification when the movie comes out. This, in my opinion, is one of the app’s marquee features. No longer do you have to remember when each movie is premiering. Add it in TodoMovies, and you’ll get a notification.

When you’re looking at a movie, say The Bourne Legacy, you’ll see the movie’s poster and a checkmark to add it to your watch list alongside the TodoMovies sharing sheet. Tap the right sharing button and a cute little animation will bring up buttons for sharing the movie via email, Twitter, Facebook, or Messages. Tapping the top right button shows you all the info about the movie, including the trailer and a short storyline synopsis.
Once you have a list of movies in your watch list, you can sort them alphabetically or by release date. I found this feature to also be particularly helpful because it creates an easy way of seeing which movies are coming out before others. Remember, TodoMovies isn’t just for movies that haven’t come out yet; there’s an extensive catalog of movies to add that have been around for a long time.
