Back in June, we reported on a study that showed that the average iPad user is extremely likely to make a purchase or research a product after seeing an ad on his or her device. A more recent study supports that research and notes that for one-third of iPad/tablet owners, shopping is their favorite tablet-based activity.

The study, which was commissioned online coupon/deals site CouponCabin and carried out by Harris Interactive, surveyed 2,214 U.S. adults about how they use their iPad or Android tablet to make online purchases and redeem electronic coupons. The study also asked about overall tablet use as a part of everyday life.

The study uncovered these details.

  • 32% consider online shopping their favorite iPad/tablet activity.
  • 35% have used their tablet to redeem an online coupon of one type or another.
  • 57% said that they shop online using their iPad or tablet while watching television.

In terms of general use, about half of the respondents (53%) said they spend less an hour or less each a day using their devices while 47% said they spent up two hours using their devices and 16% said that they use their tablet for more than two hours each day.

In announcing the research, CouponCabin also noted that it launched a new iPad app earlier this week.
