One of the many pros of jailbreaking is the ability to theme your iOS device. When you install a custom theme in Cydia, you’re effectively replacing Apple’s default iOS design with something new and fresh. There are many great themes for jailbreakers, but my new favorite is undoubtedly ayecon. Developed originally for the iPhone and iPod touch, ayecon is coming to the iPad on August 3rd.

I’ve been using ayecon on my jailbroken iPad for a couple weeks now, and I couldn’t be happier. Here are some screenshots to give you a taste of what to expect from this benchmark iOS theme:

On the iPad’s lock screen, ayecon brings a minimalist feel. The theme comes with 4 new wallpapers that are automatically added to Apple’s folder in the Camera Roll.
Folder icons are displayed in a 3×3 grid, and there are several redesigned App Store icons included as well. (ex: Dropbox)
Many smaller interface elements in iOS are given a facelift with ayecon.
ayecon includes many beautiful jailbreak app icons.

Not bad.
Notification Center has a new background that compliments the rest of the theme.
Completely redesigned icons and logos can be seen in the Settings app as well.
Bubbles in the Messages app have a slightly different design.

Surenix, the designer of ayecon, says that the iPad version of his newest theme will go on sale in Cydia Friday, August 3rd. It will cost $2.99 for new customers and $1.99 for those who have already purchased ayecon for the iPhone. You can install ayecon on your jailbroken iPhone for $2.99 by searching in Cydia. Make sure to have the free Winterboard jailbreak app installed first; you’ll need to enable ayecon in Winterboard before the changes take effect..

Surenix has also released an ayecon-inspired SBSettings, Clockify, and WeatherIcon theme for free in Cydia to complement the general look and feel of ayecon. Search “ayecon” in Cydia for everything, and make sure to let us know what you think of this new theme in the comments!
