Five Fun Games: A Gentically-Modified FPS, Addictive Pachinko, Aquarium Sim and More

Peggle Nights

Here’s this week’s selection of games from Mac Games and More that will take you into the weekend. The picks include an addictive pachinko-like game, a DIY aquarium sim mixed with hidden objects, and an action-packed genetically modified shoot ‘em up.

Peggle NightsPeggle Nights – It’s a rare accomplishment when a game manages to require an equal amount of skill and luck at the same time. Peggle Nights, the second installment of the popular Peggle series, does just that, which is probably why the game is so infuriatingly addictive. It’s much like the game of pachinko except that you initially have the opportunity to shoot the ball with a certain amount of control, rather than shooting it up into the board randomly and crossing your fingers that it’ll land in auspicious places. With Peggle Nights you can accurately aim and hit some of the targets to a degree, but after a while you must rely on luck for the balls to land on more targets or bonus pegs. This combination of game play will surprise you. Download it

Bonnie’s BookstoreBonnie’s Bookstore – In the spirit of Bookworm Deluxe, Bonnie’s Bookstore takes you on a word finding adventure. Bonnie finds a treasure trove of art left in her attic by her grandfather, and she hopes to write a book to match the images. As you create and find as many words as you can within 50 levels of game play, try to change all the letter tiles to green, and help an aspiring childrens’ book writer pursue and fulfill her dream to become a world class author, all the while being able to showcase her granddad’s work. Try to avoid the dreaded writer’s block by creating words longer than three letters. Download it

Fishdom H20 Hidden OdysseyFishdom H20 Hidden Odyssey – The need for variety in game play couldn’t be more important to some casual gamers, which might be why some games seem like many games in one. Fishdom H20 Hidden Odyssey could be just the ticket for people who must absolutely have a mixed bag of entertainment in one place. Not only does Fishdom H20 take you on an odyssey of hidden object games under the sea, it also lets you participate in an aquarium simulation where you must make a unique water world filled with the most curious and lovable pet fish you’ve ever seen. The home you make for your pets will be as creative and as fun as your budget and imagination will allow. Later, your animated aquarium can be set as your desktop screensaver! Download it

KaijinKaijin – The story line of Kaijin might sound all too eerily familiar: genetically modified grown food and pollution from the ocean and environment caused terrible climate change and made the natural food chain of Planet Terria mutate in ugly ways. Terrians understood that eating processed food was detrimental, so most of them survived on food they grew themselves. All other life forms did not subscribe to this lifestyle. As a result, they developed brain abnormalities and they became evil, insect-like creatures. As their new mutations multiplied, so did their appetite for planet domination. Terrians are suddenly their Public Enemy Number One. Annihilate the baddy bugs in this Galaga-inspired, shoot ‘em up game, with your lasers, fireballs, homing smart bombs and devices. Download it

Wandering WillowsWandering Willows – In Wandering Willows, you and your hot air balloon are forced to land abruptly, and you find yourself in a strange place filled with quirky characters, pets, events and games. In this RPG/simulation game, you’ll be challenged with various tasks after meeting the community and your success with them will ultimately help get you back in the air and on your way home. It’s not simply a matter of clicking your heels and declaring there’s no place like home. There’s much to be done. Luckily, you will have help from different animals, but you have to train them first so they’ll be useful to you. Consider Wandering Willows a cross between The Legend of Zelda, Nintendogs and Virtual Villagers. 150 Quests, more than 40 different pets to collect and train. Download it
