Martha Stewart CraftStudio: Crafts Without Mess! [Daily Freebie]

However dramatic the stories about her extra-curricular activities and personality are, Martha Stewart remains the undisputed queen of crafts.

But the last time I did anything crafty was back in high school when I ditched three periods and headed for the beach — so I wasn’t horribly enthusiastic when Martha Stewart CraftStudio popped up on our radar. Color me shocked though, because it’s pretty darn awesome — especially for kids, and people who actually know what they’re doing.

The interface is slick, very pretty (especially on a Retina display) and super-simple to use. Want to move an element around, rotate or scale it? Simply drag or pinch-to-zoom, even with text; couldn’t be easier. Add photos, glitter, stamps, stickers or punch holes in the paper — it’s all there.

Once you’re done you can print your craft, email it, share it on Facebook or Twitter, save it as a photo on the iPad or have it printed at Snapfish.com — which is probably part of the reason the app is temporarily free (the app will be $5 after the July 4th weekend).

And yes, there are five extra themes to buy at $2 a pop. But the app comes with four free themes, which are way more than enough to keep a crafter busy for weeks. Pretty good for a free app.

My craft, which only illustrates my utter lack of craftiness.
