Overview hero20110811

The MacBook Pro might not be going anywhere just yet.

Apple rumor site 9to5 Mac says it has gotten its hands on the entire spec sheet for the Macs expected to be announced today. There will be a a pair of new desktop Mac Pros, along with a server version.

The site also claims that the current 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pros will get a spec bump, and that there will be a new Retina-display 15-inch model.

These are 9to5 Mac’s numbers for the long-awaited Mac Pro upgrades:

Normal configuration: 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip.

Normal configuration: 2.4GHz 12-core processor, 12GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip.

Server configuration: 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM, Two 1TB hard drives

And here are the specs for the updated portables:

13.3 inch: 2.5GHz dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive

13.3 inch: 2.9GHz dual core processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive

15.4 inch: 2.3GHz quad core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive

15.4 inch: 2.6GHz quad core processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive (BTO upgrades to 2.7GHz quad core and 1TB HD will be available)

The site says that it doesn’t have any details of any Retina-display MBPs. There will apparently be updates to the Airport Express mini-router and also to the external MacBook Air SuperDrive.

Why ATI Radeon 5770? This graphics card is getting old now. In fact, they are the ones the current Mac Pros use!

I doubt the Mac Pro specs are accurate. I should think AMD HD 6000-series at least, even possibly 7000-series.
Also The new CPU’s support Quad-Channel RAM, and the 6GB and 12GB RAM look more like Triple-Channel to me.
Also no mentions about graphics in the laptops, so doubt these figures are real (if they really obtained the full specs, they would post that)
