iPhone Owners Are Least Likely To Switch Carriers When Service Sucks

Practically every mobile phone carrier in the U.S. has relied on the iPhone to boost their sales numbers and increase customer satisfaction in recent years (sorry, T-Mobile). It turns out that betting on the iPhone isn’t just great because it gives customers the pretty device they want, but converting users into iPhone owners might mean that they will be more likely to stay with your carrier in the long run even when your service sucks. On the other hand, BlackBerry and Android owners are quicker to jump ship when the service has problems.

A recent survey conducted by Rebtel showed that iPhone owners are more likely than Android and BlackBerry owners to stick with their service provider, regardless of how dissatisfied with their service they are. 29% of iPhone owners said they would not switch service due to poor quality, whereas only 19% of Android users said they wouldn’t either. After experiencing the death-lurch of AT&T firsthand in Vegas, many of us at Cult of Mac will probably be part of the 71% who are likely to switch to Verizon next year.

A few other interesting facts unearthed in the survey is that men are 90% more likely to use mobile VoIP app to replace their calling service, but women are 47% more likely to replace their text messaging plan with an alternative app.
