Patent Armageddon is set to take place in less than a month thanks to dates set by Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero. The settlement talks were originally ordered by Judge Lucy Koh of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, in hopes that Samsung and Apple’s CEOs and their chief lawyers could reach an agreement to end the 50+ lawsuits filed by the two.

Mediation talks are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on May 21 and continue on the following day. Talks will take place in a San Francisco courthouse opposed to San Jose — where the litigation is taking place — and require both parties to provide a settlement statement outlining “the parties’ likelihood of prevailing on the claims and defenses.” Unfortunately we won’t know what’s said as the talks will remain confidential, but hopefully they’ll put an end to this ridiculous game of patent litigation ping pong.

What do you think, can these two come to an agreement or will they remain bitter and out for blood? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. We’ll keep you updated on how the peace talks pan out. Until then, keep going about your life as you always do (not really caring).
