Cyclemeter, Runmeter And Walkmeter Updated With iCloud And Non-Sucky Interface

The funniest part of Abvios's lineup is that there's an app called 'Walkmeter'

Abvio has updated its trio of iPhone fitness apps — Cyclemeter, Runmeter and Walkmeter — with iCloud support and a bunch of new features. The biggest improvement, though, is that they are no longer annoying to use.

I use [Cyclemeter](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cyclemeter-gps-cycling-computer/id330595774?mt=8) on my iPad to track longer rides and bike tours (it’s not a universal app, but it’ll run on the iPad), mostly to keep a record of where I went, but also to see how many calories I burned so I can load back up at the best restaurant in whatever town I happen to end up in.

It is endlessly configurable, and keeps a wealth of stats (it’ll work with cadence meters, power meters and heart-rate monitors, too), but the interface is a horrible mess. Trying to find the stats for *the ride you just finished*, for example, requires much trial and error. Even when you know how to do it, the info is hidden away.

Or was. A new History tab lets you get there quickly, and you can browse by days, weeks, moths and years. This makes browsing older data much easier, and much more fun.

Also added in the v7 updates (for all apps) are user-added training plans (plus some new built-in 5K, 10K, half, and full marathon training plans), iTunes sharing for import and export of databases, the aforementioned iCloud support (for backup and sync between devices) and a whole new set of “stopwatch” screens.

Previously, you had one in-ride (or in-run or in-walk) HUD screen, with configurable readouts from speed to time to elevation, plus an extra maps tab. Now you can swipe to choose between a slew of HUDs, showing any of 150 different stats, graphs and maps. This makes it a lot easier to switch things up on the go. There’s also an integrated music player, which I’m planning on trying out if I ever manage to fix a JamBox to my handlebars.

The update is solid indeed, and free to owners of previous versions. New users only have to pay $3.
