Unlike some of EA’s recent iOS games (I’m looking at you, Battlefield 3: Aftershock!) Mass Effect Infiltrator has become a huge success. It’s great gameplay and entertaining storyline have earned it some really glowing reviews, and it recently featured in our selection of the best Retina-ready games for the new iPad.
Today it receives a “massive” update that adds a new bonus mission, manual aiming, more optimizations for the new iPad, and more.
Version 1.0.3 is available to download immediately from the App Store, and one of its biggest changes is the ability to use manual aiming. The only option before was an auto-targeting system, which wasn’t all that fun for hardcore gamers. But the manual controls make it feel more like a traditional shooter.
There are also new mission rewards that allow you to earn bonus credits and boost War Assets if you score 3 starts on every checkpoint, and your facial scars and biotic colors will now change depending on whether you choose to be Paragon or Renegade. Mass Effect Infiltrator is now even better on the new iPad, thanks to more optimizations that promise smoother performance on the device.
Finally, and arguably the most exciting addition, is a new bonus mission. As opposed to playing Randall Ezno, you can now play as a captured Turian experiment victim and attempt to escape the medical bay.
