Customize iBooks To Manage A Larger Library [iOS Tips]

Is your iBooks library starting to outgrow those beautiful bookshelves that Apple provided for you? Have you purchased way too many Jim Butcher novels, only to find them crowding out your beloved Harry Potter collection?

Well, there’s a simple way to manage a burgeoning iBook collection, and we’re here to tell you how.

First up, decide what you want to categorize your library into. What best matches the books in your collection? Should you categorize by genre, subject matter, have a list of favorites? It’s up to you. Once you decide, then, head on over to your iOS device and tap the “Collections” button the top of an iPad screen, the “Books” button if on an iPhone or iPod touch. You can then create your own collections by tapping the “New” button, or edit the collection names you’ve already created by tapping on the (natch) “Edit” button. The default categories are Books and PDFs. You can be more creative than that, right?

Once you’ve created the categories, it’s time to start organizing your books. Return to your shelves and tap the Edit button in the upper right hand corner of the iPad screen, the upper left hand corner of the iPhone or iPod Touch screen. Tap all the books on the shelves that you want to move to the new category, then tap the “Move” button. Notice that you have the chance to create new categories and edit their names here as well.

The end. Enjoy your new bookshelves, and be sure to share with us your interesting (and humorous) categories in the comment section below.
