Having slipped to 2-3 weeks last week, shipping times for the new iPad through Apple’s online store have already eased to just 1-2 weeks.

There’s no doubt about it, Apple did a much better job of handling iPad demand this year than it has done with the previous two models. Sure, it’s online store went down under the strain for a short while, but when it came back up, the new iPad was available for launch day delivery for a lot longer than it had been in previous years.

Shipping times didn’t slip until a day after the device went on sale, but they did reach delays of 2-3 weeks. But from this morning, those in the U.S., the U.K., and other territories are looking at a shipping delay of just 1-2 weeks through Apple’s online store for both the Wi-Fi and 4G + Wi-Fi models.

If you want to get your hands on the device straight away, however, you’ll be better off visiting an Apple retail store, or authorized Apple retailer. Many stores still had stock when the launch day queues has disappeared, and they’ll continue to receive regular deliveries.
