iOS 5.1 Has Hit Gold Master, Will Ship With iPad 3 [Rumor]

It doesn’t take a genius to guess or soothsayer to divine that Apple’s been holding back the iOS 5.1 update to debut it alongside the iPad 3, and so it appears, with reports now indicating that iOS 5.1 has just gone Gold Master.

According to Chronic Wire, in a dimly sourced report:

The build number of iOS 5.1 Gold Master is 9B176 according to a very solid source, although three different partners who are testing the Gold Master claim to have slightly (by single digits) higher builds numbers on their copies, I’m assuming that’s because right now it’d make sense for those people to be testing what will soon be released as 5.1.1, so I’ve disregarded the claims.

The most notable new additions expected from iOS 5.1 include a new way to access the camera from the lock screen and Siri turning Japanese, I really think so.

Either way, expect to get your first real gander at iOS 5.1 tomorrow, and expect it to ship with the iPad 3 in the next couple of weeks.
