Seinfeld’s “Puddy” Stars Latest Apple Ad, But Fails To Make it Funny

top_of_the_line

Apple has tapped the comic genius of actor Patrick Warburton for its latest “Get A Mac” TV ad. But despite a very promising start — you smile just seeing him – the ad is a dud.

Warburton is best known for playing Elaine’s boyfriend, David Puddy, on Seinfeld. The man is just funny, period. Unfortunately, Apple’s new “Top of the Line” ad is not. (Watch it below).

Warburton plays a top-of-the-line PC — a fast, smooth machine with a big screen.

The computer shopper — a young woman — is initially impressed, but is turned off when he admits he’s not immune to viruses and other headaches. The silly fool forsakes Warburton’s charms for the unbearable Justin Long, who plays the Mac.

The ad isn’t funny, just like the rest of the ailing series. This joke has definitely run its course. Like Sieinfield itself, it’s time for Apple to pull the plug.

i think part of what makes it not funny is that the virus line has been overused. yeah we get it, macs are more virus resistant, but that isn’t all there it to a mac that makes it a worthy choice.

I thought it was pretty funny, but they need to let the “Mac’s don’t get viruses” joke go. Who cares? If you buy virus software you wont’ get hacked. I haven’t.

  • Dezlboy

    I agree, pretty lame.

  • Kelley

Best known for what?? Who is he and why do I care?

‘Some say I’m too fast’… TMI *cough*

Only line that brought some laughs here. The rest, tired.

  • Olternaut

Well I thought it was funny. Your right about him. He has that stare and voice when his characters try to be serious that just makes you want to laugh.

I gotta say, I quite like Justin Long. He does the Mac adds credit. The add wasn’t great. Pretty much the same as most of the others.

yeah funny but not laugh out loud funny. he is also the voice of peter’s cop wheel chair bound cop friend from Family Guy and he is in that sitcom, the rules of engagement.

I have to say I still enjoy this series of ads. However, “no viruses and headaches” is getting a little old especially with that phrase used in both of these latest ads.

i still think this is funny…watched the ad without knowing who he was

i love how they made a reference to the girl from the microsoft ad that “wanted a big screen”

Yawn, stupid ad is stupid. The Mac ad people should learn something from the iphone ads. Show the product and its strong points and differentiators in easy bite sized bits without resorting to silly ‘comeback’ ads.

    He’s the Tick!

Well, I actually really enjoy them, and hope they keep coming. Sure, some are not as funny as others, but some are really good. Keep ‘em comin’ Apple.

  • Will

I like this ad as well as the whole series. The humor is faint in this ad but the message is still relevant in my opinion.

Please…. This guy is Brock f@&£ing Sampson…. He’s “teh sex”(little venture brothers for ya!) hilarious!

This ad is hilarious. It reminds me of dating and is clearly aimed at women.
The funny part is all Patrick Warburton. He looks and sounds successful (in a smug and smarmy way) but offers only posturing and hot air. This stereotypical guy is everywhere in the dating scene.
What’s funny is that this guy knows he has no chance – his only opportunity to be with her is when she’s desperate and willing to compromise.
    Freaking hilarious!
