Switch Between Ten Different Docks [OS X Tips]

Dock Spaces

Dock Spaces allows users to have up to ten different customized docks, each with its own set of applications, documents and stacks. This simple shareware app will also let users set the preferences for each instance of Dock that they set up, including the size, position of the screen, and magnification.

Even better, Dock Spaces will integrate with Apple’s OS X Spaces, for a different Dock per Space. UPDATE: This seems to only be available in the 10.6 Snow Leopard Version. Users can, for example, create a space for graphic design, and automatically load a Dock outfitted with all the latest design software and folder hierarchies they wish. They simple switch to the Space they’ve designated, and Dock Spaces will load the appropriate Dock, based on the user-defined settings. The app will even set the Desktop picture as an added bonus. It’s like magic!

Each Dock can be named, as well. There is a Backup feature to save all that hard work customizing Docks, and full Growl notification support as well. Head on over to the developer’s website now to download and purchase this sweet app with a version for Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7.
