Instagram has been updated to version 2.1 in the App Store. The update brings several improvements, including a revamped interface. More photo editing features have been added, like the “Lux” editing tool and the new “Sierra” filter.

Here’s how the guys at Instagram explain Lux:

We’ve given you a new way to instantly transform the look and feel of your photos. In just one tap, Lux works its magic by making your photos more vibrant and bringing out details you couldn’t see before. Use it with a filter or without.

Camera+ users will be reminded of the “Clarity” tool that instantly enhances your photos. Lux can be applied to any photo by simply tapping the new sunlight icon under the list of available filters.

The Sierra filter has also been added to Instagram’s arsenal. Push notifications will finally take you directly to a specific photo from Notification Center. The design refresh is fantastic, and the capture button has finally been resized to align with the rest of the bottom menu.

Overall, version 2.1 is a fantastic update to a great app. Download the latest version of Instagram for free in the App Store. And don’t forget to follow Cult of Mac!
