Apple Issues Firmware Updates To Bring Lion Internet Recovery To More 2010 Macs

Apple has issued a set of firmware updates for more of its Macs that were introduced during 2010. These updates bring Lion Internet recovery to the early 2010 MacBook Pro, the mid 2010 iMac, and the late 2010 MacBook Air.

You can download and install the updates now via Software Update on your Mac. Here are the release notes for each one:

MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.6 (3.18 MB):

This update enables Lion Recovery from an Internet connection on MacBook Pro (Early 2010) models.

iMac EFI Update 1.8 (3.02 MB):

This update enables Lion Recovery from an Internet connection on iMac (Mid 2010) models.

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.3 (2.98 MB):

This update enables Lion Recovery from an Internet connection on MacBook Air (Late 2010) models and addresses an issue where the system could restart if the power button is pressed immediately after waking from deep sleep.

Apple has been slowly introducing Lion Internet Recovery to older Macs following the new operating system’s debut last July. Back in October, the company issued a firmware update that added the feature to early 2011 iMacs, and just last month, it added support for the mid 2010 13-inch MacBook Pro.
