The Absinthe for Mac jailbreak tool has been updated with several bug fixes for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners looking to jailbreak on iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1. We’ve covered Absinthe in detail since it was released to the world yesterday, and this second update addresses key issues that users have been experiencing.

Version 0.2 of Absinthe for Mac “tries to fix no reboot after activating VPN/tapping Absinthe icon,” according to Chronic Dev hacker planetbeing. After installing yesterday’s jailbreak, many also noted that stock apps on the iOS SpringBoard were randomly turning white. That issue has also been addressed in version 0.2 of Absinthe for the Mac.

The VPN issue that planetbeing notes refers to this trick for getting around unresponsive Greenpois0n servers when trying to install Cydia with Absinthe. A Windows version of Absinthe was also just released that should address that problem as well.

You can download version 0.2 of Absinthe for Mac from this direct link. This latest tool is recommended for jailbreaking your A5-based iOS devices. We have handy tutorials for jailbreaking the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 with Absinthe.
