Remember when Apple’s 2011 Worldwide Developer Conference sold out in under 12 hours? With the suspicion that the same thing could happen in 2012, developers Anthony Herron and Aaron Wardle have created a website called WWDC Alerts.

The simple site allows anyone to sign up to receive a SMS message when Apple makes tickets for the 2012 event available for purchase.

Apple announces WWDC dates in advance, but it’s always a mystery as to when tickets will actually go one sale. A service like WWDC Alerts will ensure that you know exactly when tickets are on sale.

WWDC Alerts will notify you via call and SMS as soon as we know the tickets are on sale regardless of your timezone. Whilst this isn’t a fix for those at vast altitudes in metal tin cans, there should hopefully be less anxiety about leaving the house as the date draws near and the tickets are made available. You’re welcome.

The site is well put together and seems to take security seriously. The creators promise to not sell your number or contact you for anything other than the site’s intended purpose.

You can follow WWDC Alerts on Twitter for more updates. MacRumors notes that the Moscone Center lists a generic “Corporate Meeting” during the dates of June 11th through June 15th. Sounds like the perfect time for this year’s WWDC.
