Two iPad Models At 2012 Macworld Rumor Now Debunked [Report]

A questionable report was making the rounds this morning from Taiwan-based publication Digitimes saying that Apple was planning to introduce two new iPads at the Macworld|iWorld conference on January 26th, 2012. The models were said to be targeted for the low-end and high-end consumer markets.

We voiced skepticism about this rumor (which also claimed that the iPad 3 would feature double the battery life and a higher-quality display), and now the Digitimes report has been debunked.

The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple has weighed in on the rumor calling the claims “completely false.” Dalrymple is a respected source for Apple news and was formerly the Editor at Large for Macworld. His track record has proven to be very reliable.

That’s not to say that Apple won’t unveil an iPad 3 in 2012, merely that such an announcement won’t be made at the Macworld|iWorld conference in January.

From The Loop:

I checked with a number of my sources today and an iPad 3 is not planned for release at Macworld. In case you’re wondering, an iPad 3 won’t be released at CES either.

You can also mark a TV off your list for either one of those shows too — it’s not going to happen, according to my sources.

There you have it, folks. This non-news can finally be put to rest.
