Real Racing 2 Comes To The Mac App Store, And You Can Steer With Your iPhone!

This is turning out to be a gamer’s Christmas on the Mac App Store. Following yesterday’s surprise release of Limbo for Mac, Firemint’s beloved Real Racing 2 has also arrived on OS X, with all of the best features of the iOS version, including a 16 car grid, Quick Race and Career modes, 15 racing tracks and over 30 officially licensed cars including the 2010 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500, 2010 Nissan GT-R (R35), 2012 McLaren MP4-12C and more. In our eyes, though, the killer feature is the ability to steer your car using your iPhone or iPad. Get Real Racing 2 here.

THIS IS THUMBMAN. I DEMAND TO KNOW WHETHER I MUST PURCHASE REAL RACING ON BOTH THE MAC AND IPHONE, OR WHETHER I CAN PURCHASE JUST THE DESKTOP EDITION AND SOMEHOW LINK MY PHONE AS A CONTROLLER. THANK YOU.

Is it possible to steer with the iPod too?

  • Honey Badger

Good question but seriously dude… You “demand” to know?

  • joewaylo

No yelling please. It hurts my ears.

More than likely it’s a yes. You probably do need to have both versions running and a setting is somewhere on the iPhone version while linked on WiFi to play via Mac.

But another method is your Apple TV using the 4S. They made most of the games AirPlay compatible.

does the Apple TV method work on the 4?

  • joewaylo

Apple TV AirPlay streaming only works on iPad 2 and 4S due to the computing power required. The dual core ability increases function to stream apps and audio from the iDevice to the Airplayers permitted which would be Apple TV and the iPad hdmi connector.

I have tried playing it on a 55 inch HD TV via AppleTV and there was a slight lag and occasional frame rate stutter. It isn’t huge, but it does affect the gameplay.

Connecting via a cable, while not as convenient, absolutely rocks!
