TV Show Streaming Disappears From Apple TVs In Canada Just Days After Update

Apple quietly issued an update to its Apple TV earlier this week, which finally introduced TV show streaming from the cloud to users in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. for the first time. However, there may have been a good reason why Apple was so quiet about it.

It would seem that the feature isn’t ready yet — or that it was not meant for certain territories — because just days after being introduced, Apple has removed it again.

Following the firmware update, users in these countries were introduced to a new “TV Shows” menu on their device which allowed them to stream TV shows they had purchased on iTunes directly to their Apple TV — without a computer or iOS device in between.

However, that feature has now disappeared for users in Canada, according to 9to5Mac:

For some, the TV Shows menu option disappeared on its own 24 hours following the firmware update. Others report that the option gets deleted from the main menu upon choosing it.

Of course, this could just be a bug in the firmware that needs fixing, but it would seem as though Apple has disabled the feature after its introduction, possibly because it was rolled out to these new countries by mistake. Let’s hope Apple issues some clarification soon.
