New MacBook Pros With Faster Sandy Bridge Processors to Launch Next Week [Rumor]

Thanks to a leak through Apple’s own website, we’re all expecting a refresh to its MacBook Pro family to introduce faster Sandy Bridge processors. According to the latest rumor, they’ll be ready to purchase from next week.

Based on leaked part numbers, the new machines will look identical to the current lineup — so don’t get your hopes up for a fancy redesign. They will, however, boast faster processors, and most likely Bluetooth 4.0, which was introduced to Apple’s MacBook Pro earlier this year, and its new iPhone 4S.

According to a 9to5Mac report, the updated notebooks will be available between Tuesday and Thursday of next week:

With supplies only becoming more constrained, and with shipments already touching down in select countries, we think a launch next week is likely (between Tuesday and Thursday). That is, of course, if there are no unforeseen circumstances.

MacRumors notes that the new processors are likely to be Intel’s latest quad-core i7 processors with speeds of 2.4GHz, 2.5GHz, and 2.7GHz; as well as dual-core i7 chips at 2.8GHz — as shown below.

Are you looking forward to new MacBook Pros?

It was a bad move, since Apple always releases new Macbooks around this time :/

If I’m buying one of these, the CD drive will have to move for a SSD/HDD combo

    Update the Mac Pro already!

Not true. Apple’s cycle of MBPs would of technically had the next one coming in march – may. As for the actual news…I am happy and yet disappointed, happy that faster processors are coming, disappointed that I got my new MBP in august and am now losing out on the new speeds -_-… at least its only a minor upgrade.

Apple needs to find a better graphics solution than the HD nastiness offered by Intel.  How about some AMD or Nvidia graphics in the Mac Air?

U can hold the option key and then click on the blutooth icon and c the version of Bluetooth on ur MacBook Pro …. If u bought the one which came with OS X Lion preloaded already have bluetooth 4.0 ! :-)

Good catch. When I got my 15″ MBP purchased in September, the box had the new Lion background. I found it initially in System Information (the former System “Profiler”) where it said 4.0.1 and the key combination you mentioned just confirmed it once more.

I’d much rather have a 6Gbps SATA port in the optical bay, which got tossed in favor of a 2nd SSD. :D Oh well…maybe the slightly refreshed ones will correct the SATA III issues that have plagued the 2011 15″ and 17″ MacBook Pro’s. The 2011 13″ are just fine. LOL…
