How to Enable the Emoji Keyboard in iOS 5 [iOS Tips]

In iOS 5, Apple introduced a slew of new features and updates to the most advanced mobile operating system on the planet. While users had to rely on third party hacks or jailbreak workarounds to enable an Emoji keyboard before, Emoji has been added as a standard keyboard in iOS 5.

Apple has added Emoji as an international keyboard available in any app that has text input.

To enable the standard Emoji keyboard, navigate to the Settings app. Tap the General tab, followed by Keyboard. Access the International Keyboards window and tap “Add New Keyboard.” From the list of installable keyboards, choose the Emoji one.

Now, whenever you want to add some cute flair to your messages, tap the Globe icon at the bottom left of your keyboard. You can select various kinds of emoticons, with 6 mood categories to choose from.

i can’t believe this ,I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use http://xub.me/ab

Why did they have this inactive anyway? the way I understood it is that it just has to be activated by an app (i got it free in the app store), but all apps give you the same emoji keyboard, don’t they?

Yeah, this isn’t new. It’s the same procedure you use for iOS4.

This is something you should save for when iOS 5 is actually available.  It’s kind of rude to publish it now, and it’s not like you guys have lots of material anyway.

I got emoji keyboard with “Emoji Free” from the App Store. Not a stock keyboard in iOs4.
