Apple Issues iMac Graphics Update to Correct Freezing Bug in Lion

Are you an iMac user that’s been experiencing a weird graphics glitch in OS X Lion? Then you’re in luck. Apple has just issued an iMac Graphics Firmware update to fix random system freezes and hang ups.

“About iMac Graphic FW Update 3.0

This firmware update fixes a graphics issue that may cause an iMac to hang under certain conditions.

Do not shut off the power on your iMac during this update. Loss of power could result in your iMac failing to start up.”

Apple hasn’t indicated which exact models need the update, so check Software Update to see if you’ve got a new download.

There have been widespread complaints from iMac users on Lion relating to random system freezes and graphical hiccups. What exactly caused this issue remains a mystery, but Apple has sought to remedy the problem with this new update.
