Penny Arcade iOS App Will Help You Discover Your Next Gaming Addiction

A new iOS app from Penny Arcade is set to hit the App Store next month with a mission to help you discover your next gaming addiction. Called the Decide-o-tron 8000, the app builds up a library of games based on what you like and what you don’t, then uses its predictive technology to tell you what you should be playing next.

In a blog post on the Decide-o-tron website, Penny Arcade’s Tycho Brahe describes the app as a “Pandora for games”:

“The Decide-O-Tron is essentially Pandora for games, that’s about as clear as I can make it. It can very quickly build a library of the games you like and own, and then — just as quickly -— tell you what you should play next. It will be available for iOS devices, and it will be free.”

While it may be an iOS app, it’s not exclusive to iOS games: the Decide-o-tron will learn everything there is to know about your gaming likes and dislikes, then help you choose from EEDAR’s incredibly large database of titles for a number of popular platforms, including the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, all the way back to the Gameboy.

What’s more, Decide-o-tron 8000 will be completely free when it hits the App Store, and I personally cannot wait for it. Though I have a undeniable addiction to Call of Duty, when I’m not into getting my ass whooped by a bunch of 12-year-olds I like to pick up something different, and I can spend a good half hour in the game store trying to decide what to buy. I’m hoping in future that Decide-o-tron will choose for me.

Penny Arcade really does continue to be a diverse company. I am enjoying these recommendation engine apps though, like Discovr Apps.
