This Is What iOS 5’s Text-To-Speech Integration Will Look Like

We have theorized before that Apple was holding back its much rumored iOS 5’s Nuance speech integration as a feature to be revealed at the iPhone 5 launch event, and it looks like we may have been right, as a couple of new screenshots have popped up showing just how speech recognition will be integrated with the operating syste,.

First posted by 9to5Mac, the integration is pretty simple: any time a keyboard pops up, you can just tap a microphone button next to the space key to transcribe speech into text.

Depressingly, it seems that for right now, Apple’s leaning towards making this feature exclusive to the iPhone and iPod Touch in iOS 5, leaving the iPad out of things all together, as they have also done with Notification Center widgets and Voice Control. Let’s hope they change their mind: typing on an iPad is still pretty painful.
