After commemorating its 10th anniversary in retail earlier this year, it seems Apple retail now has another impressive milestone to celebrate, having welcomed over 1 billion visitors into its retail stores worldwide.

The information was revealed to Australian electronics retailer Current.com.au, who contacted Apple’s PR team to confirm the opening of its eleventh store in Australia — set to open this Saturday in Penrith, New South Wales.

Apple Retail has been in business for 10 years. During this period, we have had over 1 billion visitors through our doors, many of whom are new to the Mac, as the Apple Store is the best place to learn about all the latest products from Apple.

Apple’s first retail store opened in Washington DC in May, 2001, and 10 years on the company has over 330 stores across the world. But what makes Apple’s retail stores so popular?

Well, in addition to its extremely favored products, Apple believes its customer service is most important to its success:

Service is the hallmark of every Apple Store and the response from customers has been overwhelming. We had over 1 million customers sign-up for our Personal Setup offering last quarter alone.

Apple intends to increase its number of retail outlets with an additional 33 stores by the end of its financial year on September 25 — that’s a new store roughly every three days.
