As some of you may already be aware from the previous posts I’ve written, I’m a huge fan of first-person shooters. While I’m certain I could never pluck up the courage to handle real arsenal, the number of precious years I’ve wasted on FPS games is frightening.
One of my favorite first-person shooters for iOS is Gameloft’s N.O.V.A. 2, which has just dropped into the Mac App Store, and will no doubt ensure my family don’t see much of me this weekend.
Priced at $9.99, N.O.V.A. 2 for the Mac is identical to its iOS counterpart, but bigger and better than ever before, and picks up the story 6 years after the first episode:
6 years have passed since the events depicted in the first episode.
Humanity is now thrown into a bloody civil war fought on one side by the central government of the Terran Orbitals and the self-appointed Human-Alien alliance; a new organization with a mysterious origin and agenda. Kal Wardin left active service in N.O.V.A. years ago and now lives among the colonists of the desert Scorpius.
But war never spares even the most peaceful places…
The action-packed single-player campaign takes you through 13 chapters of hostile environments in various Orbitals, offering over a dozen weapons with which you will do battle against a wide range of enemies with improved AI.
After beating the single-player campaign, you can indulge in five intense multiplayer game modes across 10 maps, with support for up to 10 players; including free for all, team death match, capture the flag, and freeze tag.
Fans of the title on iOS, and indeed those who enjoy first-person shooters, have to experience N.O.V.A. 2 on the Mac.
